Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Doctors Hyderabad (doctorshyderabad.com) collects, why, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Dr. Vannala Raju, Hyderabad, Telangana, India (“we”, “us”). We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them.
1. What we collect
If you apply to join as a doctor
- Your name, specialty, email address and mobile number.
- Your medical council, registration number and a copy of your registration certificate.
- Optionally, your hospital or clinic.
- Once approved: the qualifications, short bio and photo you add to your profile, the stories you write and the comments you post.
If you read the site
- You do not need an account to read. We do not ask for your name.
- Reactions and reading counts: to stop the same visitor being counted many times, we keep a one-way scrambled code derived from your internet address for up to 24 hours. We never store the address itself. Your browser remembers which reactions you gave, on your own device.
- The Sunday Read newsletter: your email address, only after you confirm it from the email we send.
- The contact form: your name, email address and message. These are emailed to us and are not stored on the website.
Collected automatically
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (internet address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and troubleshooting.
- Cookies: see section 6.
2. Why we use it
- To check that every writer is a registered medical practitioner, and to manage doctor accounts.
- To publish the stories, profiles and comments that doctors choose to share.
- To send emails you have asked for or that relate to your account: verification, password links, story review updates, and the newsletter if you subscribed.
- To reply to messages, keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
- To show advertising that helps keep the site free (section 6).
- To meet our legal obligations.
We rely on your consent when you apply, subscribe or write to us. You can withdraw it at any time (section 8). Withdrawing consent does not affect what was done before.
3. What is public and what is not
Public: a verified doctor’s name, specialty, qualifications, hospital (if given), photo, bio, published stories and approved comments.
Never public: email addresses, mobile numbers, registration numbers and certificates. Certificates are kept in a private folder that only the site administrator can open.
4. Patient information
Doctors agree not to include any information that could identify a patient, and every story is reviewed before it is published. If you believe a story could identify you or someone you care for, please contact us. We will take it offline while we look into it.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- service providers who run the site for us: our web hosting company (servers in India) and our email delivery service;
- Google, for website fonts, search and site statistics, and advertising (section 6);
- authorities, where Indian law requires it.
Some of these providers, such as Google, may process data outside India, as permitted by Indian law.
6. Cookies and advertising
- Essential cookies keep doctors and administrators signed in. Readers who do not sign in do not get these.
- Advertising: the site may show ads from Google AdSense and sponsor banners. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings. Read how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Statistics: we may use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, in aggregate.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works for reading.
7. How long we keep it
- Applications that are not approved: the certificate is deleted when the request is declined. The rest of the application is deleted within 90 days.
- Doctor accounts: kept while the account is active. If you ask us to close your account, we delete your personal details and certificate within 30 days. We remove your stories too, unless you ask us to keep them published under your name.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
- Contact messages: as long as needed to deal with them, normally no more than 24 months.
- Server logs: normally deleted by the hosting provider within a few months.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct, complete or update it;
- erase it, or close your account;
- withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing;
- let someone you nominate exercise your rights if you die or cannot act yourself.
Doctors can also update their profile from their dashboard. To make a request, write to info@doctorshyderabad.com. We will reply within 30 days.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted administrator access, private storage for certificates, and review of all content before publication. No website can be completely secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your personal data, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
The site is for adults. Only registered doctors can create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
